This policy explains what Bloblokin (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and what your choices are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the game, and we never sell your personal data.
1. Data we collect
- Guest play. You can play without registering. A random guest identity is created for you and remembered through a token stored in your browser (localStorage). It contains no personal information.
- Account registration. If you create an account we collect your chosen player name, email address, a password, how you heard about Bloblokin, and your choices about receiving service announcements and news/event updates by email. Passwords are never stored in plain text; they are hashed with a salted, industry-standard key-derivation function (scrypt).
- Gameplay data. Ratings, match results and replays, personal records, achievements, Droplet balance and virtual-item inventory, settings (which sync to your account), and in-game reports you file or that are filed about you.
- Technical data. Our servers process your IP address and connection metadata as an unavoidable part of operating an online service, and keep minimal operational logs. We also retain the most recent connection IP associated with your account, and any account or IP address we have blocked, for abuse prevention and moderation (see section 2). We do not build advertising profiles from this.
2. What we use it for
- Running the game: matchmaking, ratings, records, sync.
- Account security: your email address is confirmed with a verification code, and is used for account-recovery codes (“Forgot password?”), email-change confirmations, and security notices (for example, when your password is changed). These security emails are sent whenever the situation calls for them; they protect your account and cannot be turned off. Sign-in is your username or email plus your password, handled by us alone (no third-party sign-in).
- Fair play and moderation: automated plausibility checks on reported scores and input rates, human review of player reports, and (where our rules are broken) restricting access to online multiplayer. To enforce this we may block an account and/or the IP address it last connected from. Blocks affect online play only (offline solo play and access to your account remain available) and are reversible.
- Optional email you are subscribed to: service announcements (maintenance windows, downtime, important changes to the service) and news & event updates. Both choices are presented at registration with “yes” pre-selected; you can decline right there, and you can turn either on or off at any time in-game under Account → Email preferences (each such email also says how), or by telling us at support@bloblokin.com. These go only to your account's email address and only from us, we never share your address with advertisers or other marketers.
3. Advertising
Bloblokin is free to play and supported by advertising, served by third-party advertising partners. In connection with showing and measuring ads, those partners may process device information and use cookies or similar identifiers under their own privacy policies; where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before such cookies are used. Rewarded ads are always optional: when you finish one, the only thing we record is that a reward was earned, so we can grant the Droplets. We run no other third-party analytics, and we do not sell your personal data.
4. Cookies & local storage
Your browser's localStorage holds your guest/account token and local preferences so you stay signed in between visits. Clearing your browser data removes them (registered accounts can simply sign back in; an unregistered guest identity is lost with its token). Beyond that, cookies are used only by our advertising partners as described in section 3.
5. Retention
- Registered accounts are kept until you delete them or ask us to.
- Early development: while Bloblokin is in its early period, an update may occasionally require resetting game data, including accounts and progress. Where reasonably possible we announce a reset in advance.
- Guest accounts that stay inactive for an extended period are deleted automatically, along with their data.
- Match histories, replays, and moderation reports are pruned on a rolling schedule.
- The last connection IP stored on an account is overwritten each time you connect. Moderation blocks (account or IP) are kept until we lift them or the account is deleted.
6. Your rights
Email support@bloblokin.com from your account's address to: request a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, delete your account and its data, or withdraw marketing consent (email subscriptions can also be turned off directly in-game under Account → Email preferences, with immediate effect). We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live, and aim to complete them within 30 days. If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights (such as the EEA, UK, or California), these are the same rights those laws describe.
7. Children
Bloblokin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, contact us and we will delete the account.
8. Security & where your data lives
Data lives on our servers with access limited to the team. Our servers are currently located in the United States, so your data is processed and stored there regardless of where you play from. The email we send (verification and recovery codes, security notices, and any announcements or news you are subscribed to) is delivered through a third-party email delivery provider, which processes the recipient address and message content in the United States as our service provider, for delivery only, nothing else. Passwords are salted and hashed; the one-time codes we email (verification, password reset, email change) are short-lived and stored only in a protected, hashed form; email verification protects account changes. No online service can promise perfect security, but if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify affected players.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and announce it in the in-game mailbox. Continued play after a change means the new policy applies.
