Scoring

Exactly how every point is awarded.

Every point in Bloblokin comes from one of six sources: the line clear itself, a Twist bonus, a back-to-back streak, a chain, the Sparkle perfect clear, and the cells you drop through. All of them except the drop bonus scale with your current level, so the same clear is worth far more late in a Marathon than at the start.

Line clears

Base points are multiplied by your current level.

Double2300 × level
Triple3500 × level

Twists

A Twist is a clear where the blob was rotated into place and could not move afterwards: it was locked in, wedged under an overhang. Twists are the game's skill bonus, and they pay far more than the same clear made flat:

Compare with the line-clear table above: every twist outscores and outdamages the same clear made flat.
Twist clearingBase pointsSludge sent
No lines400 × level0
1 row800 × level2
2 rows1200 × level4
3 rows1600 × level6
4 rows1600 × level6

Two things in that table are worth reading twice. A Twist scores even when it clears nothing: 400 × level for the rotation alone. And the table tops out at three rows: a Twist clearing four pays exactly what a Twist clearing three pays (1600 × level, 6 rows of Sludge), so there is no bonus for going wider once you are already twisting for a triple.

One thing the definition hides: hard-dropping cancels the Twist. The bonus is only awarded if the last thing you did was rotate, so a rotation followed by a hard drop scores as an ordinary clear. Let the blob settle instead.

Streaks (back-to-back)

Clear a Quad or a Twist, then follow it with another Quad or Twist without an ordinary clear in between, and the second one is a streak: points are multiplied by 1.5× and it sends one extra Sludge row. A single, double or triple breaks the streak: which is the whole tension of stacking for Quads under pressure.

Chains

Clearing lines with consecutive blobs builds a chain. Each link adds 50 × chain × level to your score, and adds Sludge in versus:

Chain attack is capped at 5 rows.

5–62

Sparkle (perfect clear)

Empty the entire Well with a clear and you score a Sparkle: 3500 × level, and 10 Sludge rows in versus, by far the biggest single hit in the game. It is rare and worth setting up when the board allows.

Levels

Level rises every 10 lines cleared, up to level 15, and multiplies almost everything above. See Levels & Gravity for the full speed curve.

Soft and hard drops also add a small amount of score per cell dropped, which is why hard-dropping rather than letting a blob fall is very slightly better for score as well as for pace.
