Solo Modes

Seven ways to play on your own.

There are 7 solo modes. They all use the same Well, the same blobs and the same scoring: what changes is the objective, the speed cap, and which number your board is sorted by. Each mode keeps its own local records board, so a fast Sprint and a long Marathon never compete with each other.

Marathon

Clear 150 lines. Gravity rises every 10. Level rises every 10 cleared lines to a maximum of level 15, and gravity rises with it, so the run gets steadily faster from start to finish. Ranked by score.

Because points scale with level, most of a strong Marathon score is earned in its last third: reaching level 15 with a clean, flat Well is worth far more than arriving there buried. Treat the opening levels as preparation, not as scoring: clear holes while they are cheap.

Sprint

Clear 40 lines. The clock is the only opponent. Level is capped at 1, so gravity never rises and the only pressure is the clock. Ranked by time, and a completed run always outranks an unfinished one; a run that overflowed has no comparable time and shows a dash.

Sprint rewards placement speed over score. Hard drop rather than waiting out gravity, and refuse any placement that buries a hole: digging one out costs more time than the clear that created it ever saved.

Time Attack

Score as much as possible in 2:00. The clock counts down from 2:00 and there is no line target: the run ends when time does. Ranked by score.

With a fixed clock, points per second is the only thing that matters, so build for Quads and back-to-back streaks even though they feel slower than clearing whatever is available. Level still rises every 10 lines, which means efficient early clears raise the value of everything you clear afterwards.

Endless

Score attack with no end: gravity maxes out and stays. One overflow and it's over. Gravity climbs the usual curve to level 15 and then holds there indefinitely. Ranked by score.

Endless is the honest measure of how long you can hold a clean stack at full speed. Once the level stops rising, nothing gets harder except your own board, so the run usually ends because of a hole created several minutes earlier. Downstack the moment the surface gets jagged.

Dig

Clear every Sludge row. Speed counts. The Well starts pre-filled with 10 rows of Sludge and the run completes the instant the last Sludge cell is gone. Level is capped at 5. Ranked by time.

The important detail: each pre-filled row gets its own randomly placed gap, unlike the shared gap column in a versus Sludge volley. You cannot drop a Noodle down one channel and clear the block: every row has to be opened where its own gap sits. Clearing rows that contain no Sludge does nothing for the objective, so avoid stacking high enough to need them.

Survival

Sludge rises faster and faster. Clear lines to survive. A single Sludge row rises from the bottom on a timer that shortens as the run goes on, and each row arrives with its own gap column. There is no finish line: it ends when you overflow. Ranked by lines cleared, with longer survival breaking ties.

Since the board counts lines rather than score, there is no reason to hold out for a big clear late on: take the clear that keeps your stack low. Early, when rises are still far apart, is the only time you can afford to build.

Daily Well

Marathon rules, fixed daily seed, a single attempt. The objective is the Marathon one (150 lines, level rising every 10) but the blob sequence comes from a single seed derived from the current UTC date, so every player in the world gets exactly the same blobs, in the same order, on the same day. You get one attempt, and the day rolls over at UTC midnight rather than in your local time. Ranked by score.

That shared seed makes the Daily the fairest comparison the game offers: nobody got a kinder bag than you did. Because there is no second try, play it as a real run rather than as a warm-up.

Objectives are the mode's own goal text; the ranking column is the metric that mode's board sorts by.
